Casting Couch

When I read a great book or hear an amazing story I usually cast it in my mind (here's hoping that will come in handy in film school). And as of right now, I am totally all about The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. And since the screenplay has just been finished I figured as a fan now is my chance to suggest my two pence.  BTW this is multiple choice since I have two options for most characters, and those not yet listed are a work in progress- I will post them once I get a shot of inspiration..

Lets start with Clary Fray, female lead :

                                                         This is Rachel Hurd-Wood

very talented young English actress, she has many of the delicate features like Clary.

Next we have, Skyler Samuels

I believe she has the feistiness that Clary develops over the series.

Next up is the role of Jocelyn Fray, Clary's mother. Let us start with Saffron Burrows

her look is perfect, need I say more...

Then we have Rhona Mitra, a favorite for every scifi series.

She has the strength and power we expect from Jocelyn.

My choices for Valentine Morgenstern,  first is Mads Mikkelsen

Excellent actor should be seen more often, he has the charm and wildness for Valentine.

Next I choose Alexander Skarsgard, although his look is totally Valentine, he might be too young, nothing a little make-up cant fix

He shows the complexities of characters in such a subtle way like Eric Northman (yummy).
Valentine would benefit from his talent.

I really only have one pick for Luke Garroway, I only see Andy Whitfield.

He is sublime, I pray he gets well soon.

Next is the role of Simon Lewis, I think Logan Lerman is perfect for this role.

Jace Wyland, the Internet is a flutter with who will it be etc. They all like Alex Pettyfer:

But I tell you, looking like that I see him as more a Sabastian Verlac.

I've got a few problems with 'casting' Jace. No one fits, I'm thinking unknown. I do however love Rupert Friend although I think he may not be able to play 18, anymore-boo! Anyway here's a look. UPDATE look below...

I was happy watching Pillars of the Earth on starz, when a beautiful face appeared, and I thought- JACE! So this is the beautiful Douglas Booth, he is 18 and can easily play the complexities of Jace. I am posting a lot of images of him... enjoy!

Spoiler--- I would just like to point out that he looks like he could be the child of any the Jocelyn and Valentine choices...

Another Sabastian Verlac choice is this hottie:

Umm they say its Tyler Posey, but I am not sure... Either way he looks like a perfect Sabastian.

Alec Lightwood, is a fairly easy choice for me Frank Dillane, from H.P the Half-Blood Prince:

He played a young Tom Riddle wonderfully, Alec and his petulance and jealousy, I think Frank would play him very well.

Isabelle Lightwood is difficult, Ashley Green of course would have been a good choice but... (UPDATE below Kat Dennings)
So I came up with two very different choices, first is Gemma Arterton, who is young but looks old, soo that may not work out. But she is beautiful and has the strength that Isabelle oozes.

Then my second choice may seem strange to some people, Kat Dennings, I think she is truly beautiful.
She is a talented actress, and I think she can transform into Isabelle Lightwood.

OK so I have another option, she is young and pretty, also seems to have the correct attitude that Isabelle needs, (please no judging) she is the little sister of the Olsen twins, her name is Elizabeth Olsen she was recently cast as the lead in an indie film. Here are some images of her:

Next is Magnus Bane, this has been difficult, I have been looking for an Asian actor who resembles Magnus but I haven't had much luck. Raphael has been interesting, I cannot decide if Shiloh Fernandez  should be Raphael or with his look and attitude is Magnus. Hope no one is offended by my non-asian choice (for now).

Spoiler thoughts...It would be pretty hot to see Shiloh (as Magnus) and Fank (as Alec) flirting etc.

Maia, I think that Jennifer Freeman, looks that part, although I don't know if she is still acting...

Shay Mitchell is a great choice for Aline Penhollow:

As Mrs. Lightwood I like Michelle Forbes,

Excellent on True Blood, she can play the iciness and aloof mother wonderfully.

As the Inquisitor I like Lena Olin,

She is a very strong and capable actor, she would be fabulous.

As Hodge, we need someone who can bring intelligence and charm, as well as tortured soul element, and I think Cillian Murphy is spot-on for the role!

That is all I have for right now I will keep it updated when I get some new ideas.
